...you’re the only one they’re following, they have zero comments, and the one comment they’ve ever starred is yours.

I think half of oppo has followed me at one point or another . I don’t actually understand the function this serves other than saying, ‘ Hey buddy, I like the cut of jibberish.’
Is there some reasoning for following someone when you read every post on the site already?

I don’t follow Oppos, but I do follow some of the professional kinja authors so that their posts/comments appear on my dashboard (you used to be able to follow whole blogs like this, but since that functionality was removed, following individuals is the way to go).
All that said, I do think it’s a little freaky to have potentially 137 people (some of whom are not spam bots!) following my posts.

Next - a reply from the greys - “I made a Kinja account just to follow youuuuuuuuu...” And starring EVERY comment and post you’ve ever made...

You mean, like that one?

Yeah, the follow feature isn’t very useful without the Dashboard. I’m picky about who I follow, because that’s how I manage my Feed.
Fortunately, I was able to start following a few blogs before they took the button away. I even found a way to pick up some additional blogs to add to my feed by checking the profiles of commenters who chime in early. If you look at someone’s “following” lists, there’s a Follow button there too. (I just checked yours, and can finally keep an eye on Fusion Data Team now . Thanks!)

If you’re actually reading everything, no, but it is nice to scroll through the comments of people you follow and find good conversations you might have missed out on otherwise.
